Liverpool Blow As Lille Refuse Brendan Rodgers’ Request To Send On Loan Striker Divock Origi Back Early

Ligue 1 side Lille have point blank refused Liverpool’s request to send on loan striker Divock Origi back to Anfield early…

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is apparently unhappy with the current options he has up front, and was hoping to bring on loan striker Divock Origi back early from Lille. The French club seem determined to hold onto him however, and have refused to send him back in January.

After a superb World Cup and a fantastic start to the 2014/15 campaign in Ligue 1, Origi is looking like a far more enticing prospect to lead the line at Anfield over a misfiring Mario Balotelli.

It looks as though Rodgers will have to settle for the players he has in Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert, and Fabio Borini however, as the Lille director Jean-MIchel Vandamme has no intention of letting the young forward go.

When Belgian publication Sport Wereld contacted him regarding the matter, he had this to say, “That’s impossible, the contract is clear: he stays here until June.”

With Sturridge recently returned from injury, Liverpool’s striking problems should ease somewhat. But unless Balotelli can open his Premier League goalscoring account soon, then the Merseyside club could become too overreliant on Sturridge; much in the same way they were at times with Luis Suarez last season.
