Giovanni ‘El Cholo’ Simeone is the son of current Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone.

He scored his first goal for the Argentine giants in last week’s Copa Sudamericana Round of 16 first leg game against Paraguayan side Libertad. River Plate won the game 3-1, with the second leg on October 22nd.
His father made 106 appearances for the national side, scoring 11 goals. He began his career with Argentine side Velez Sarsfield.
