The Argentine forward might be available this January as Napoli consider letting him go after a very poor start to the season, which sees him yet to score in Serie A after seven games this season.

Higuain has been linked with Arsenal in the past, though it looks like he may be past his best now after also enduring a disappointing World Cup with Argentina, missing big chances in the final defeat to Germany in Brazil.

Liverpool have also been linked with the 26-year-old, but Arsenal’s chase for a new striker could now lead them to this disappointing transfer target, which is unlikely to appease the club’s fans after their team’s poor start to the season.

There were boos at full time as Arsenal drew 2-2 at home to Hull City this weekend, making it just two wins from their opening eight matches in the league this term.

Fans have called for more signings to come in, but with Higuain looking a shadow of his former self, this looks like another mistake in the transfer market waiting to happen.
