The 30 year old right-back is out of contract next summer and is free to sign a pre-contract deal in January and Arsene Wenger is apparently desperate to land the Swiss international.

Juventus may well be keen to cash in on the former Lazio man in preference to losing the player on a free transfer and Wenger clearly wants to strengthen his defensive options in the wake of a fair few defensive injuries of late.

Lichtsteiner could help provide an option to battle new signing Mathieu Debuchy for the right-back berth, with the Frenchman currently out injured, though youngster Calum Chambers is also an option for the role.

Stephan Lichtsteiner has won three Serie A titles in his three completed seasons in Turin and one wonders if an offer of a new deal from Juventus would be successful or whether boss Massimiliano Allegri is ready to draft in a more youthful talent in his stead.
