Blues chase Portuguese international.
Sporting Lisbon are ready to listen to offers for prized asset William Carvalho with the Daily Star claiming that the Portuguese side are willing to accept around £28m for the Chelsea target.
The 22 year old Portuguese international has a release clause set at £37m but his Primeira Liga employers are now willing to accept a lesser offer with Arsenal and Man United also keen on the defensive midfielder.
Carvalho played a key role in his side’s runners-up finish last season and was part of Paulo Bento’s 2014 World Cup squad and has spoken publicly of his interest in a move abroad, stating;
“We all have ambitions and I hope one day to play in the best leagues in the world, the English or Spanish,”
“It was not this year, but if I continue to do my job as I have done so, it will certainly come sooner or later.”
Chelsea have a number of tough tackling central midfield options with Nemanja Matic currently Mourinho’s first choice weapon for the role with the likes of John Obi Mikel, Ramires and loaned out Spaniard Oriol Romeu as back-up so Carvalho may want to think long and hard before considering a move to the west London club.
