The 24-year-old is out of contract in the south of France at the end of the season, though the club may look to cash in on his services in the new year to avoid missing out on getting some fast cash.

According to Italian newspaper Il Mattino, Napoli are willing to offer £1.6million to sign Ayew six months early.

However, Liverpool could be prompted to make a move of their own as they continue to struggle for goals with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini fire blanks in the absence of star striker Daniel Sturridge.

Ayew has made a solid start to the campaign for Marseille, scoring two goals and creating three assists in 12 appearances as the side continue to keep the pace at the top of the Ligue 1 table.
