Turkish giants deny interest in Cech but confirm a deal is in place for someone else.
Istanbul-based club Besiktas have confirmed that they are working with Chelsea to sign one of the club’s stars though they have denied that the player in question is goalkeeper Petr Cech, according to the Daily Express.
Club president Fikret Orman has revealed that his club have made an agreement with Chelsea, and are close to signing a Stamford Bridge player.
Many believed that the player in question is Petr Cech, but Orman has stressed in no uncertain terms that the object of his club’s desires is not the veteran shot stopper.
“We are going to make a few signings during the transfer window,” he said.
“We will sign a right-back and a centre-back, both will be foreign also we will invest in a young forward.
“We are not interested in Petr Cech but we are working together with Chelsea to sign a player.
“We have not held talks yet however, Chelsea have recently made an agreement with Besiktas.
“If Cech does become available Be?ikta? would become a potential destination for Besiktas and I would support such a move.”
The identity of the player is still unknown, though it is thought that one possibility could be Mohammed Salah.
The Egyptian star has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge and it is being suggested that he could be allowed to leave either on loan or in a permanent deal in the new year.
