Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has called for ‘someone’ to be sacked for passing up the chance to re-sign Cesc Fabregas this summer, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The Gunners legend is known for being outspoken and sometimes controversial, and he looks to have angered some of his old club’s supporters after this latest rant on social networking site Twitter.

Wright commented that Fabregas should not have been allowed to join rivals Chelsea when Arsenal had the first refusal on him when he left Barcelona this summer.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has come under fire a great deal recently after some poor results, though Wright did not appear to single the Frenchman out for criticism over the failure to bring in the Spanish midfielder, who has been in superb form for Jose Mourinho’s side so far this season.

“For the record the mere fact that Fabregas is at Chelsea when we had first option, don’t care who but someone should be sacked,” he said.

Wright admitted that he’d had a few drinks whilst tweeting these comments, though he added: “many a true word spoken in drunken tongue!”
