Red Devils target falling out of favour this season.
Manchester United could get a major boost in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid centre-back Miranda as he looks to be falling out of favour in Diego Simeone’s starting lineup, according to El Confidencial.
The Brazilian international was one of Atletico’s best players last season as they shocked Europe by winning La Liga and reaching the Champions League final against all the odds.
Miranda’s strong defensive partnership with Diego Godin was crucial to Atletico’s success, but he looks to have lost his place this season after some fine form from Jose Giminez in his absence through injury.
According to additional information from Fichajes.net, this could mean Atletico will accept offers from Manchester United for Miranda this January, which would no doubt be a major boost for Louis van Gaal in his search for new options at the back.
Despite a recent improvement in form, United have not looked entirely convincing in defence this season, and Miranda would make a significant improvement on some of their options in that position.
