Liverpool line up top managerial trio to replace Brendan Rodgers, including Napoli boss Rafa Benitez…

Last year Brendan Rodgers led Liverpool to their best season in a long time, but after a faltering start to the new campaign the club are already in talks with a number of managers who they believe could replace him, reports the Express.

With the Merseyside club dropping gracelessly out of the Champions League on Tuesday while also sat ninth in the Premier League, the board are looking at options to replace Rodgers as soon as possible.

With the club failing to replace the goals lost when Luis Suarez made the switch to Barcelona, Rodgers’ poor transfer dealings have also left his position under scrutiny.

Reports suggest that they have already held talks with Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp, former Chelsea man Andre Villas-Boas, and ex-boss Rafa Benitez and the Northern Irishman’s job clearly hanging in the balance at the moment.

“It doesn’t look good for Rodgers,” said respected journalist Duncan Castles.

“There’s been contact with alternatives to replace him. The fact that they’re looking shows Rodgers is not in a good place.”

The 41-year-old may be given a little longer to turn things around, but if the season continues along it’s current path then he will almost certainly be replaced.
