Manchester United are reportedly set to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels for a fee of £47m next summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Red Devils are long-time admirers of the German international and now look to be close to beating off competition from the likes of Arsenal for his signature.
Louis van Gaal made some big splashes in the transfer market in his first summer as United boss, and his ambitious deals look set to continue as he looks to bring Hummels to Old Trafford to improve his side’s defence.
Although United have improved greatly under the Dutch tactician, there are still question marks over their performances at the back, and some players in that position could certainly be improved on.
