The Welshman was linked with a move to Old Trafford before he eventually went to the Spanish giants the summer before last.

However, he may now finally be making the move to the North-West club in January according to some reports, with the fee being quoted at anything between £90 and £120 million.

Now that the Dutchman has refused to rule out such a transfer the rumours will only increase. If any move were to happen it would probably have to break the record for the largest transfer fee ever, as well as being a sensational return to the Premier League for the 25-year-old.

Van Gaal told reporters, “I cannot discuss that with you. I discuss that with my CEO and not with anyone of the media.”

United currently have other things to worry about, with their Boxing Day fixture against Newcastle United coming up. In the same match last year, the Toon managed to win at Old Trafford for the first time in the Premier League era.
