The 17-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club back in November, having risen through the youth ranks in recent years. A regular in the U18s, Dobson has also turned out for the U21s despite his young age.

Dobson’s former director of sport at Brentwood School Ian Wignall claims he had no doubt that his ex-pupil was set for big things, with the talented young defender impressing from day one.

“We saw him at first-year trials (at Brentwood school) and it was just absolutely clear that he was going to be one of the better players for the team,” he said.

“He was absolutely destined for stardom. He was a super boy, worked really hard.

“He was motivated, he wanted to be successful and without any doubt that drive to succeed got him where he is today.”

Dobson may still be some way off the Arsenal first team, but with the North London club’s current defensive problems he could prove to be a fantastic future asset.
