Brendan Rodgers is confident that Liverpool’s star striker Daniel Sturridge will be fit to face Chelsea at the end of the month…

Daniel Sturridge has been plagued with injuries this season, but could be set for a return to action against Chelsea in the Capital One Cup, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The striker has been absent for most of the season, and has had to watch on as his team struggled for goals. The club are clearly feeling the loss of Luis Suarez, with the controversial forward’s departure to La Liga giants Barcelona leaving a gaping hole in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

After a number of setbacks however, Rodgers is hopeful that the England international will return at the end of the month and their clash with the Blues the target.

Sturridge has been in the United States for his rehabilitation, but should return this week to begin training. Having only played three Premier League games so far this season, the Northern Irish manager will be hoping his star striker can play a much bigger role in the second half of the campaign.
