Star in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Wojciech Szczesny is fighting for his Arsenal future with reports claiming the Gunners would be willing to sell the Polish number one in the summer.

Szczesny was fined more than £20,000 after he was apparently caught smoking in the showers after Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Southampton – a match in which his mistakes partly caused the Gunners to drop points.

However, the Daily Mail claim Arsene Wenger is more concerned with the Arsenal’s no. 1’s performances on the pitch and perceived over-confidence.

Arsenal have been irked by Szczesny for some time with the Pole’s attitude after his red card against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last season cost the Gunners a vital European scalp, when they looked to have the German giants on the back foot.

Other incidents such as his on-pitch selfie following the Gunners 1-0 win in the North London Derby last season have been noted as his perceived arrogance and over confidence.

The latest gaffe by Szczesny seems to be the straw that has broken the camel’s back, however, with Arsene Wenger instructing his scouts to identify potential goalkeeping targets before the summer according to the Mail.

Petr Cech and Hugo Lloris are both on the Frenchman’s radar, though both would obviously be difficult to acquire.

Szczesny was dropped for Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Hull in the FA Cup 3rd Round but could be in line for a return with Stoke City’s visit to the Emirates this weekend.
