The Argentine has been on the sidelines since damaging his knee ligaments on December 6. The injury was sustained during a challenge from Everton’s Muhamed Besic during the Citizens’ 1-0 victory over the Toffees. It now looks likely that the forward will miss the return fixture against the Merseyside club, but could make it to play the Gunners.

In recent matches manager Manuel Pellegrini has had to play James Milner out of position up front, due to injuries to Stevan Jovetic, Edin Dzeko, and Aguero. Jovetic has already returned to the first team, while the 26-year-old returned to training on Monday.

The 2014 World Cup finalist will be welcomed back with open arms when he arrives back in the squad, as he had been on an amazing run of form before being ruled out, scoring 19 goals in 21 appearances before December.
