Red Devils ready to swoop for Southampton star Nathaniel Clyne.

Manchester United are ready to swoop for Southampton and England right back Nathaniel Clyne after contract talks between the player and his club stalled, report the Mirror, with Louis van Gaal viewing the former Crystal Palace man as a potential solution to the issue that he has in the right back position.

Clyne has been one of the stand out performers for Ronald Koeman’s Southampton side this season as they have stunned the Premier League to put together a convincing challenge for one of the top four places, but that could now be derailed by United’s move for one of the Saints’ key men.

Southampton are looking to persuade Clyne to commit his future to the club with just 18 months left to run on his current St. Mary’s contract, but the 23 year-old himself is less keen to accelerate negotiations and seems to be content to sit tight and consider his options.

This will give the Saints a decision to make, more than likely in the summer, with Koeman’s side likely to have to cash in on Clyne if he does not show a willingness to sign a new contract, with the club unlikely to want to risk losing the player on a free transfer.
