Hummels has only recently claimed that he wishes to see out the remainder of his contract at the Bundesliga club.

However, the Daily Mail say that discussions have progressed between BVB and the Red Devils and a £37 million feee for the centre back has been outlined.

Dinamo Kiev’s Aleksander Dragovic has, the report suggests, been selected by Dortmund as an ideal replacement for their captain and they contacted the Ukrainian club over his availability this week which may signal a deal for Hummels is now close.

Dragovic has also been watched by United themselves though scouting reports on his ability have been mixed and they don’t appear to be readying to firm up their interest.

Hummels has been on United’s radar for some time with reports earlier this month claiming the club were prepared for a major transfer splurge this summer with the German top of their wish list and they have yet to deny their interest.
