The 19-year-old, making his first league start for the club since being recalled from his loan spell with Derby County, struck the outside of the post with his first-half effort – the closest either side came to breaking the deadlock.

Rodgers, who was quoted by BBC Sport, said of the performance: “I had no qualms about putting him in, it was a brilliant performance. He’s got a wonderful temperament and technique and tactically he was very, very good coming into that system, knowing when to go forward and when to tuck in.”

Of course, there are plenty of other Premier League prospects that have impressed this season. Click through our list below to see where Ibe rates in terms of the top flight’s best English teenagers:

10) Rolando Aarons (Newcastle United)

He scored one and set up another in the 3-3 draw with Crystal Palace, while he also found the net in the shock League Cup victory over holders Manchester City.
