El Clasico is due to go ahead on the weekend of March 23. It is of huge importance to the title race, with just one point currently separating the pair at the top of the table.

However, La Liga clubs are willing to go on strike in order to force through a new TV deal for the entire division.

After seeing the massive amounts of money the Premier League is raking in through collective bargaining, the Spanish sides want to change to the system.

Currently each La Liga team negotiates its own TV rights.

15 days ago the clubs gave the Spanish government two weeks to pass a law that would allow this to go ahead, but the state is unwilling to get involved, and the Spanish top tier sides have targeted the weekend of El Clasico to down tools in order to make the biggest impact.
