The Daily Telegraph report that Louis van Gaal will be looking to capture a right-back, centre-back, midfielder and striker and that the club are even planning for the potential exit of David De Gea if the Spaniard rejects a contract extension.

Both Nathaniel Clyne of Southampton, a right back, and 20-year-old French centre back Aymeric Laporte have been repeatedly scouted and van Gaal still remains a long term admirer of Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels.

The desire to sign Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, however, might have been snuffed out after the Dutchman was ruled out until pre-season with continual knee injuries.

The report says it’s likely Radamel Falcao will be sent back to Monaco at the end of the season which will at least ensure Robin van Persie will remain at the club into the final year of his contract.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani is on United’s radar and has been watched over the past two seasons but van Gaal is also contemplating a cut price move for Burnley’s Danny Ings.

However, with so many exits there are a number of names facing the chop with Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans, Javier Hernandez and Rafael da Silva all under threat of Old Trafford explosion.
