Queens Park Rangers full-back Mauricio Isla has predicted that Chilean compatriot Alexis Sanchez will become the best player in the world over the next few years after the forward has enjoyed a wonderful firsts season at Arsenal.

Alexis hasn’t needed much time to settle in England, scoring 19 goals in all competitions and is one of the contenders for the PFA Player of the Year awards come the end of the season.

Arsenal are currently sitting in third place in the league and are on course to defend their FA Cup, with the Chilean dragging the Gunners over the line in many games this season.

“He has always said that he wanted to be the best in the world and now he has arrived in a team where this can truly become a reality,” Isla told the Evening Standard.

“He can build confidence and where they play for him and he transmits the confidence that his teammates give him but honestly, I am not at all surprised by the quality of Alexis as a player.”

Alexis has gone off the boil in recent weeks, with his explosive start to the season catching up with him, but his first season only bodes well for future years in the Premier League.
