Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey names key man ahead of run-in

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has named Francis Coquelin as the club’s key man for the remainder of the season after the midfield enforcer became a revelation recently.

Since returning from his loan spell at Charlton in December, Coquelin has been one of the main reasons behind Arsenal’s revival in 2015, where the north Londoners have taken more Premier League points than any other club.

Arsene Wenger has been encouraged to sign a holding midfielder for a number of years, and the fact that Coquelin emerged from the shadows was very fortunate for the Arsenal boss.

“He’s been really good,” Ramsey said (via the Express).

“He’s very aggressive and doesn’t give the opposition much time on the ball, and that’s why he wins so many tackles. Then he wins the ball and makes us tick over.

“It’s been really good to see his development this year, he’s had a superb couple of months now so hopefully he can continue that.”

Coquelin’s constant presence in the team has made Arsenal more combative in the big games, winning away at Manchester City, Man United and Monaco in convincing fashion.

Despite his performances however, Wenger may look to add another defensive midfielder to the squad with Morgan Schneiderlin heavily linked.
