Carlo Ancelotti had been credited with an interest in the 23-year-old, who is comfortable as a natural right-back or a more advanced right midfielder, but the Metro claim the Spanish giants have made no official contact with FC Porto.

Indeed, Danilo has directly responded to reports of interest from the Bernabeu outfit, stating;

“The interest of the big clubs is very important to me, but I have not spoken to anyone and I know nothing of any offer from Real Madrid,” he told reporters.

“At the moment I think only about this season, then we’ll talk about the future.

“I’m having a great time with Porto and I’m focused on the championship and Champions League with them.”

Man United’s push for a fresh right-sided defensive option may well be down to the inability of either Luis Antonio Valencia or Rafael to sufficiently impress Louis van Gaal.

Both have been used on the right of the defence this term under the Dutch manager, but the superb form shown by Danilo demonstrates that he’d likely be an upgrade on both the long-serving United stars.

Danilo moved to Portugal in January 2012 and helped FC Porto to back to back titles, but has since seen the Estádio do Dragão outfit surrender the Primeira Liga bragging rights to arch rivals Benfica.

Porto regularly sell their best players for large sums, and if Danilo continues to develop at his current rate, large European clubs will surely continue to monitor his progress very closely with the summer fast approaching.
