Manchester United look set to add influential Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan to their squad in the summer according to reports in Germany.

With manager Jurgen Klopp set to depart at the end of the season, it now appears that one of their key midfielders is all set to follow suit and a move to Old Trafford is on the cards for the 24-year-old according to German publication Der Westen.
Should Gundogan make the move to Louis van Gaal’s side he would be seen as the answer to their central midfield problems and eventually displace Michael Carrick who will be 34 by the time the new season kicks-off in August.
United could face stern competition for the German international’s signature from Premier League rivals Arsenal after it has been reported that the Gunners have held discussions with Dortmund over the player’s availability and are set to launch a £20m bid.
