The Bundesliga side have offered the midfielder a £4.5 million a year contract until 2019, but with manager Jurgen Klopp leaving in the summer there is some doubt over the 26-year-old’s future at the club. With BVB not wanting to lose their player for nothing, they have given him a deadline of Friday to make a decision on the new deal.
If Gundogan doesn’t put pen to paper it is likely he will leave the Westfalenstadion this summer, with the Premier League duo poised to swoop for the Germany international.
Despite only returning from a long term back injury this season he has made 19 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund so far, scoring three goals and creating another three for his teammates. The centre-mid was also a part of the team which beat Bayern Munich on penalties in the semi final of the DFB-Pokal Cup on Tuesday.
