Former adviser to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger Roland Cheubel has told the Frenchman to sign Chelsea target and Marseille midfielder Gianelli Imbula, reports the Metro.
Cheubel used to advise the 63-year-old on his recruitment, and has tipped the youngster for big things. However, his comparison to Abou Diaby may not be welcomed by fans of the North London club, with the midfielder seemingly permanently injured for the last five years.
With Diaby’s contract ending in the summer the Gunners may finally sign a replacement for him, and Imbula may be the man for the job. The Frenchman has been a key part of the Marseille side which is challenging to qualify for the Champions League. The 22-year-old has played 34 times in the league campaign.
However, the Metro believes that Arsenal face competition from Chelsea for the player. The Blues do already have a midfield powerhouse in Nemanja Matic though, so may be less in need of Imbula.
