Two investigations into corruption at FIFA have led to a number of arrests and the resignation of president Sepp Blatter and it appears more revelations could lead to further upheaval at the organization.

When pressed on the possibility of bids for major tournaments being lost FIFA official Domenico Scala stated;

“Should there be evidence that the awards to Qatar and Russia came only because of bought votes, then the awards could be cancelled.”

Seven senior FIFA officials were among 14 people charged by US prosecutors whilst a second investigation, conducted by Swiss authorities, is investigating the bidding processes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
