Louis van Gaal is apparently armed with a £200m transfer war-chest, as revealed by forward Robin van Persie (Via Daily Express), and having already snapped up PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay the Dutch boss is ready to dig deep once more.
Interest in Cillsessen is down to the club’s likely loss of David De Gea to Real Madrid, with the Old Trafford side likely to consider decent offers for the Spaniard, who has just a year to run on his current contract.
The Sunday Mirror claims that Schneiderlin will be signed on Wednesday when the transfer window officially opens and the French international will offer van Gaal a strong central midfield option.
The 25 year old offers the defensively minded attributes of an ‘enforcer’ though also very comfortable on the ball and more than proven at Premier League level.
Arsenal were also said to be pursuing the former Strasbourg man but may have elected to calm their interest following the resurgence of form shown by Francis Coquelin last season.
