White Hart Lane side re-ignite interest in Southampton star.

Tottenham’s move to sign Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has been assisted by Man United’s likely capture of Bastian Schweinsteiger according to the Daily Mail.

White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen on landing the 25-year-old St Mary’s star and has already sold midfield pair Paulinho and Etienne Capoue, leaving space for the French international to fill.

The Daily Mail claim that Arsenal have pulled out of a move for Schneiderlin and with Man United turning their attention to Schweinsteiger, Pochettino would do well to make an offer for his former charge.

Pochettino knows Schneiderlin well from his time in charge of Southampton and is all to aware of the former Strasbourg man’s abilities.

Southampton ‘resigned’ to losing £27m Morgan Schneiderlin to Manchester United

Schneiderlin has spent seven years at Southampton and has helped the south-coast side climb from League One to the upper reaches of the Premier League and has seen a host of his team-mates complete high-profile exits over the past 18 months.

Last summer Ronald Koeman saw Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert move to Liverpool, with Nathaniel Clyne moving to Anfield earlier this month, whilst Luke Shaw and Calum Chambers completed moves to Man United and Arsenal respectively.

Schneiderlin is said to be keen to secure a move to a side that can offer him Champions League football (via the Guardian) and though a move to Tottenham doesn’t currently offer the tough tackling midfielder that opportunity in 2015/16, the Southampton man may feel the north London side are better placed to make such an ambition a reality than with his current employers.
