Bernabeu defender wants to make Old Trafford switch.

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos wants to complete his long awaited move to Manchester United, according to Spanish football expert Sid Lowe [via talkSPORT].

Th 29-year-old has spent ten seasons at the Bernabeu and is a virtual ever-present at the Liga BBVA outfit. He would surely represent a huge improvement on the defensive options Louis van Gaal currently has to call upon.

Various sources claim that Ramos is unhappy at Real Madrid [Goal] with the former Sevilla man demanding parity with the club’s big earners [Marca].

Lowe states: “David de Gea wants to go to Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos does want to move to Manchester United,” he said.

“That would imply that this should happen but we’ve got a long way to go still.

“United’s position with Ramos is relatively clear. If Real do not allow them to sign Ramos, they will not let De Gea go.”

United have already failed with one bid for Ramos [BBC] and Louis van Gaal would do well to pursue such a rock-solid defensive weapon.

Last term, David De Gea was called upon to act as a solid last line of defence with the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans largely failing to perform consistently enough.

Ramos has won virtually every honour available to him for both club and country, including three La Liga titles, the Champions League and the World Cup and European Championship crowns for Spain.

Louis van Gaal has already brought in a host of quality signings to Old Trafford, but the capture of Ramos would be the icing on his summer transfer window cake.
