Man United boss wants to complete £35m star transfer

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal wants to sell David De Gea this summer, according to Spanish source AS.

The 24-year-old has proven to be among the Old Trafford side’s most consistent performers over the past two seasons, but has just a year to run on his current contract (via the Daily Mail) and could therefore leave the club on a fee transfer in 12 months’ time.

Louis van Gaal has brought in Argentine keeper Sergio Romero to boost his goalkeeping options, and AS believe the Dutchman is keen to cash-in on De Gea whilst he still can.

Real Madrid have been linked with a move for David De Gea, who previously represented the Bernabeu side’s local rivals Atletico, and Man United have slapped a £35m price-tag on the custodian (via the Daily Star).

Man United paid £18.9m to sign David De Gea in 2011 (via BBC Sport) and after initially struggling for form, the Spanish international has matured into one of the best goalkeepers in Europe.

As well as signing the aforementioned Romero, the Premier League side have also completed deals to bring in Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.

Coach van Gaal has secured a return to the Champions League after a two-year hiatus and the moves he has already made this summer have helped strengthened Man United’s squad ahead of a push to mount a genuine challenge for major honours in this, their Dutch coach’s second campaign.
