Arsenal injury news: Major update on Jack Wilshere’s recovery

Arsenal star Jack Wilshere could return to action much sooner than expected.

The England international was confirmed to have suffered a hairline fracture to his right ankle, sustained in training last weekend, and has consequently been ruled out of action for six to eight weeks.

However, Wilshere will have been buoyed by the latest news on his recovery, as, according to The Sun, the club’s medical team have informed him that he could return to training in just two weeks time, and may therefore be ready for first-team action in a month’s time.

Arsene Wenger discussed the 23-year-old’s latest setback at his press-conference earlier today, and admitted that his No.10 is unsurprisingly downhearted ahead of the new campaign.

Wilshere joins a significant list of absentees from the Gunners’ opening game of the season against West Ham United at the Emirates, as Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky and Alexis Sanchez have all been ruled out of the clash.
