Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney posted an image on his official Instagram account asking for the club’s supporters to stay positive after dropping points for the first time this season.

The Red Devils saw their 100% start to the campaign ended against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon as the Magpies left Old Trafford with a point.

Rooney, who had an effort incorrectly ruled out for offside in the disappointing goalless draw, is yet to open his account for the season and is now on a run of 10 games without a goal since netting in United’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa back in April.

He and his teammates are back in action on Wednesday night for the UEFA Champions League second leg playoff tie against Belgian outfit Club Brugge and Rooney says the squad are determined to return to winning ways.

Disappointing result yesterday but important to keep going and put it right in the Champions League on Wednesday ??
