Former Liverpool star backs Jurgen Klopp to replace Brendan Rodgers

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes Jurgen Klopp would be the ideal man to take over from under-fire boss Brendan Rodgers according to reports in the Daily Star.

Pressure is already growing on Northern Irish manager Rodgers following successive defeats to West Ham and Man United and Klopp is currently available having left Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer.

Hamann, who represented Liverpool from 1999 and 2006, feels that Klopp would be a ‘great fit’ for the Anfield side though questions whether the eccentric German would take the job mid-season, stating;

“The pressure in Liverpool gets bigger. The fans are on the barricades. But the coach is backed by the club, and anyway the question is: Would Klopp move there during the season?”

“Had they asked before the season, I am 99 percent sure that he would have joined them. Many people say that he will take over Bayern on July 1, 2016, but I don’t know whether he’s a fit there. He’d be a great fit at Liverpool.” Hamann added.
