Olivier Giroud bags the 2,000th Arsenal goal under Arsene Wenger

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud broke a record this afternoon by bagging the club’s 2,000th goal under manager Arsene Wenger, the Metro reports.

The Gunners were expected to break that record during the midweek meeting with Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup. However, the Championship side stunned the Premier League leaders with a 3-0 scoreline.

But Giroud has erased those embarrassing memories by making club history when he nodded home the opener during the 3-0 victory over struggling Swansea on Saturday afternoon.

Mesut Ozil bagged the assist, ensuring that he too had a hand in the history making goal.
