Arsenal star playmaker rules out Bayern Munich move

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil has moved to quash talk of a return to the Bundesliga while still under contract in north London, according to the Daily Express.

German champions Bayern Munich have been heavily credited with an interest in the player’s signature, with The Express even reporting that they attempted to sign him over the summer before the season kicked off.

However, the 27-year-old has insisted that their interest was all in vein, as he has every intention of seeing out his contract at the Emirates, which is set to expire in 2018.

But though he confirmed he would not be going anywhere soon, he left the door open for a return to his old stomping ground at some point down the line.

“I can never say I will return,” the German World Cup winner said. “I have beautiful memories of home, but I’m with Arsenal until at least 2018,” he said.

“[Arsenal boss Arsene] Wenger has always backed me strongly. He’s always there for me.”
