Mesut Ozil has said that Harry Maguire and Andre Onana ‘deserved that’ moment after their heroics helped Manchester United beat Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Maguire broke the deadlock for United with a powerful header to give United an important lead.

But United almost ended up losing two points after McTominay conceded a 94th minute penalty. However, it was Andre Onana who decided to have the last say as he heroically saved the penalty which won the game for United.

Ozil was quick to tweet his support for the pair, both of whome have gone through a tough few months.

He posted on X (formerly Twitter): “Harry Maguire and Andre Onana deserve that – silencing their haters”

Under manager Erik ten Hag, Maguire has fallen down the pecking order, even losing the captaincy earlier to Bruno Fernandes.

Reports suggested that the manager wanted to get sell him but he ended up staying at the club and has recently been back in the starting line-up.

Meanwhile, Onana has also been struggling since his move from Inter Milan. He has come under criticism from fans and pundits alike for some of his poor keeping as well as weak distribution.

However, he made a lot of fans happy with his last grasp save that helped them win an important game.
