Mohamed Elneny wages revealed: Arsenal to spend £20.4m overall on first signing of 2016

FC Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny is expected to sign on the dotted line for Arsenal in a matter of days, if not hours, to become the first big signing for the team this transfer window.

Elneny will certainly boost Arsenal’s injury-damaged midfield and he is still relatively young, but his price tag is really a sight to behold.

According to Football Insider, the final price of the Elneny deal will come to £20.4 million – a £5.2 million transfer fee and a four-and-a-half year contract worth £65,000-per-week.

The 23-year-old Egyptian star completed his medical with the Gunners this past week, but he is believed to still be awaiting international clearance to complete the move.

Elneny has made 40 caps for Egypt and has won the Swiss Super League with Basel in three straight seasons.

Arsenal have been ravaged by injuries to their midfield, with Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla among others expected to miss significant time, not returning until February or March at the earliest.
