Liverpool & Juventus transfer boost as Jurgen Klopp protégé admits uncertainty over future

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has raised the prospect of a switch away from the Bundesliga by admitting that he doesn’t know what his future holds.

Speaking to Bild [as per The Sun], the deep-lying playmaker revealed that a transfer away from BVB remained an option as his ongoing contract impasse continues.

“A renewal? No decision has been taken yet,” the midfielder began.

“Of course, everything has to be evaluated properly, because a footballer’s career is short. Anything could happen” he continued.

“When I sign, it will most likely not be for just a year.”

The exquisite midfielder is unlikely to have a shortage of options as he nears a move away from Dortmund.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport [via Goal], Italian giants Juventus are desperate to sign the midfielder, and made an offer of over €30 million to bring the Germany international to Turin.

However, while the midfielder is understood to have rejected that particular opportunity, the possibility of a move to Liverpool still exists.

According to Sportmediaset [via the Daily Star], Liverpool are also keen on the 25-year-old, and may see Gundogan’s recent comments as something of a come-and-get-me plea.

The tabloid noted that the player’s relationship with Jurgen Klopp—the pair enjoyed great success together at Dortmund, winning the Bundesliga title together in 2012—could tempt him to Anfield. The German manager was influential in the player’s development, and could do with Gundogan’s calming touch in the middle of his troubled midfield.
