It’s not often that players cross the Barca-Real divide anymore, but according to a report on Spanish radio station Al Primer Toque (Onda Cero), Neymar held a secret meeting with Real Madrid bosses in Zurich before the Ballon d’Or gala.
The report claims that the meeting took place at the Park Hyatt Hotel on the Monday morning before the ceremony, just hours before he watched teammate Lionel Messi scoop the gong for a record fifth time.
Allegedly, Real Madrid chiefs requested the meeting, and Neymar obliged and attended with his father, who also acts as his agent.
However, the Brazilian is currently in talks with Barca about extending his contract and it is possible that his people are just using the meeting as leverage to secure a better deal.
And though it would appear to be a risky move on the face of it, Barcelona would loath to lose such a world class talent and marketable face to their arch rivals.
