Jose Mourinho rejects Real Madrid TWICE to line up Man United job

Jose Mourinho is reported to have turned down two advances from former club Real Madrid to keep himself free for the Manchester United job, according to The Sun.

Reports earlier this week claimed that the Red Devils have held talks with Mourinho’s representatives about taking over from Louis van Gaal, and if it is true, it will almost certainly prove to be a reactionary measure to news that Manchester City have hired Pep Guardiola.

The report also claims that Mourinho has turned down a lucrative offer to head to China in a consultancy role, as he has his heart set on taking to the dugout at Old Trafford.

The news could also mean that van Gaal is set to step down from his position at the club a year earlier than had been scheduled. The Dutchman has a contract until until 2017, but is believed to be considering his position after heavy criticism over his style of play this season.
