Video: Liverpool 0-1 Manchester City: Fernandinho breaks tie in League Cup Final

Posted by

If Manuel Pellegrini is going to be forced out of Manchester City he has every intention of taking some silverware with him to his next job. After the club spend a fortune to bring talent to Etihad Stadium this year, the Citizens are poised to reward the liberally spending ownership with their first trophy win since the 2013-14 season thanks to Fernandinho.

With the two clubs emerging from the lockers at the start of the second half tied 0-0, the draw only stood for four minutes before the Brazilian midfielder took a shot at Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet that slipped under his arms and into the post for a Man City goal.

UPDATE: As of writing the Capital One League Cup Final has passed the 70′ mark with the score still Liverpool 0-1 Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini will be replaced by Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola at the end of the season after a disappointing last couple of seasons. He led the club to the Premier League title in the 2013-14 season.
