Mario Gotze latest: Liverpool face new opposition for Klopp favorite

Posted by

The hiring of Jurgen Klopp undoubtedly gave Liverpool fans the confidence that they’ll be able to land some of the many superstars from his old Borussia Dortmund team once he has the opportunity to build the roster as he wants. One such target is Mario Gotze, now with Bayern Munich and a hot target on the market. But Liverpool may face a serious challenger for the German midfielder’s signature from a Premier League rival.

According to Transfer Market Web [per the Metro], Arsenal have joined the race for the German ace with Liverpool and Manchester United. Gotze is under contract with Bayern Munich through the end of the 2016-17 season.

It is possible that Arsenal could see Gotze as a potential replacement for the under-performing Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott, and could bring him in if they end up selling one of their strikers.

Gotze received his big break at Borussia Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp, and has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool ever since the German boss took over the reins in October.
