Arsenal on high alert as Serie A giants express interest in influential playmaker

Arsenal could reportedly come under pressure to keep their top stars this summer with Juventus interested in signing Mesut Ozil.

The German international has contributed eight goals and 19 assists in 44 appearances this season, but it hasn’t been enough to help the Gunners win silverware.

Given their disappointing season, it remains to be seen if changes are made and whether or not the club are put in a difficult position by their star individuals who may want to leave in their pursuit of winning trophies.

While there has been no suggestion as of yet that there is real discontent in Ozil’s case, La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Juve are preparing to test Arsenal’s resolve.

The Bianconeri are said to be waiting for the green light to enter negotiations with the World Cup winner, as they will have to reach an agreement with Arsenal for the player that they signed for €45m from Real Madrid in 2013.

It is expected to be an expensive operation for the Serie A champions, but given their desire to continue their domestic dominance as well as conquer Europe, they could be ready to splash out in order to land their top targets.

With the likes of James Rodriguez, Miralem Pjanic and Mario Gotze all linked with a move to Turin, as noted by Gazzetta, it is clear what Juve’s transfer strategy is this summer and what kind of player they are looking for to strengthen their squad.

Whether it’s Ozil or not remains to be seen, but the 27-year-old would surely be tempted by the idea given that he would be joining a side aiming for a sixth consecutive league title next season, as well as looking to cement their place amongst the top clubs in Europe with another strong showing in the Champions League.
