Man City superstar set for astonishing transfer u-turn which may complicate Guardiola plans

Despite incessant rumours linking him with a move away from Manchester City, Yaya Toure is understood to be keen to remain at the club beyond the summer.

The Ivorian has one year left on his current contract, and there has been no shortage of reported interest in his services from sides in China and in Europe.

Toure was offloaded by incoming coach Pep Guardiola during the pair’s mutual time together at Barcelona and, now 33, it would be little surprise should the former Bayern Munich chief sell him once again in order to usher in the new era at the Etihad Stadium.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Toure is understood to at least see out the final year of his contract at the club, and is relishing the prospect of working alongside Guardiola.

Things may not be so simple.

With the club linked to numerous midfielders in recent weeks and months—with names like Ilkay Gundogan, Thiago Alcantara and Toni Kroos all understood to be under consideration—it remains to be seen whether Yaya still has a role to play at the Etihad.
