Arsenal team news: Mesut Ozil fires shots at ‘so-called experts’

Mesut Ozil has stated that Arsenal are proving their doubters wrong following their win over Chelsea, according to Goal.

The Gunners recorded a 3-0 victory over their rivals on Saturday to move up to third place in the Premier League.

Ozil scored his sides third goal late in the first half to wrap up the three points. The 27-year-old has now urged his teammates to use their win over Chelsea as a springboard for the rest of the season.

“Many so-called experts had already written us off after the second matchday,” Ozil told Goal.

“But a Premier League season is long and we’re currently improving from game to game.

“In the first half we played exactly the kind of football we want to play – quick combinations so that our opponents didn’t even get the chance to tackle.

“All the more, we have proved now that this wasn’t a one-off and we’ll have to perform equally as well against Basel.

“If our fans support us on Wednesday like they did today we’ll be in the best conditions to play.”

Arsenal have now recorded four wins in a row and will be looking to make it five when they take on Burnley FC in the league next weekend.

Ozil scored his first goal of the season against Chelsea but is yet to provide an assist for his teammates this season. The Germany international registered 19 assists in the Premier League last term.

Arsenal face FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening.
