Barcelona star will be subject of £200m bid from European rivals next summer

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to launch a bid worth around £200m to sign Neymar from Barcelona next summer as the Brazilian ace continues to top their wish list.

The 24-year-old has been in excellent form again so far this season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in seven appearances for the Catalan giants.

However, according to Goal, PSG could be about to make a significant offer to sign him at the end of the season, having seen their interest in the former Santos star rebuffed this past summer.

It’s claimed in the report that the Ligue 1 champions did their best to convince Neymar to move to Paris prior to this season starting, offering a hefty salary to turn his head while a move would have given him the opportunity to play alongside compatriots Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Lucas Moura.

Despite all that, Goal note that he opted to sign a new contract with Barcelona instead, worth an estimated €25m per year with the deal running until 2021.

It’s no surprise that PSG are desperate to land the Brazilian international, as ultimately they have struggled so far this season coping with the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the arrival of a new coach in Unai Emery. The French giants are currently third in the league standings and four points adrift of leaders Nice after eight games.

The club’s wealthy owners will undoubtedly be under pressure to deliver a marquee signing next year, and based on the report above, it appears as though they have their sights set on Neymar and want him to become their talismanic leader up front.

It appears as though PSG are willing to offer whatever it takes to make the move happen, but ultimately it all depends on whether or not the player in question wishes to leave Barca behind for a new challenge.
