Barcelona star believes Manchester City can sign any player in the world

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique believes that Manchester City have the financial power to sign any player in the world, report Manchester Evening News.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with City on Wednesday night, Pique discussed his opponent’s financial power. He also noted that manager Pep Guardiola targeting players from his former-side Barcelona would come as no surprise to him.

Manchester Evening News quote Pique as saying: “Manchester City – a club with the financial capacity like them, which can sign any player in world, it is no surprise they focus on players in Barcelona.”

Pique could be referencing Man City signing former-Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo in the summer. Metro also report that City made an approach for Marc-Andre ter-Stegen before securing a deal for his team-mate Bravo.

If the Spanish international is right in saying that City are able to sign any player in the world, he should be concerned about the future of Lionel Messi. The Telegraph report that Guardiola has admitted he would love to sign the five-time Balon D’Or winner.

Manchester City have demonstrated their financial power continually in recent years, and who knows, maybe one day we will see Lionel Messi lead the line next to Sergio Aguero at the Etihad.
