Chelsea are interested in signing Roma defender Antonio Rudiger, according to the Daily Mail.

Rudiger has been on the sidelines for several months after suffering a serious knee injury, but is fit again and reportedly back on the radar of Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

The Daily Mail report that the Italian side are reluctant to part with the German international, but an offer in the region of £35 million could convince them to sell.

Chelsea are not the only team interested in Rudiger, however, as it’s also reported that Manchester United are considering making a move for the defender.

Jose Mourinho could be keep on bringing him in to bolster his defence, which was demolished by the Blues during Sunday’s game.

Conte’s switch to a back-three leaves him likely to search for reinforcements for his side’s back-line. The Italian has already added David Luiz to his squad, but Rudiger is more suited to that role that Cesar Azpilicueta, who is a right-back by trade.

Both sides have proven that they are more than capable of meeting Rudiger’s £35 million valuation. Time will tell if his future lays in the Premier League.
